To Mr Daniel Westling

42 days before the royal wedding in Sweden “Till Herr Daniel Westling” was presented as a letter addressed to Mr Daniel Westling and sent to the royal castle, as well as a performance where I donated my blood. In this letter I’m offering my blue blood to Herr Daniel Westling.

I offer my blood (blue blood) to the consort Mr Daniel Westling (the man of the people) marrying the crownprincess Victoria of Sweden. This will bring him noble blood and take away the focus of the discussion around his backround and we can instead focus on the love between the couple.

With this act I raise questions regarding inheritance, honor culture, contemporary blood mythology and point out how women are disregarded within several families still today. The project also touches the taboo of discussing class in Sweden.

As a woman within a noble family I can’t bring my inheritage forward to my son (childern) and he can not inheret my name and still be noble.
Woman are not allowed within the annual meeting held by the Board at the House of Nobility in Stockholm.
And still in the 21st century woman can’t wote within this very limited community of families, which you are born into. Also adopted people are not wellcome to be a member of the noble family you are adopted into. Still the structure of fideikommiss (latin) is applied in Sweden, where the oldest son will inheret the land, prior to a sister. This law is since long time abandoned in the rest of Europe.

In relation to “Till Herr Daniel Westling” a seminar was held discussing questions in relation to the project.
